I Don’t Blog About Interesting Things

October 27, 2007 » by Bill in: Hawkeyes,Pictures,Sports,Xbox360

Sometimes I do, but maybe what I mean is “controversial” things. I have a lot of thoughts and opinions that would surely make people want to say things to me, but most of the time I really don’t feel like arguing. I’m sure I will someday, but that day is not today.

I do however, blog about the children, the Hawkeyes, and video games quite a bit. Those things are pretty interesting to me – if not anyone else. I got my Hawkeye Highlights section updated, though I hesitate to call most of them “highlights”. It was a great game today; however, as Iowa took double-overtime to defeat Michigan State in Iowa City. I was a little disappointed that it even came to overtime after a disappointing final defensive series.

Of course it could also be said that they were lucky to even be in the lead at the end of the game after riding Albert Young for 5000 yards or whatever it was. Iowa has a decent shot at bowl eligibility, and if they win out ( no small task, I know ) it will be all but a sure thing. It is at times like this that I think about how Iowa State is 1-8 – with a sole victory over Iowa – and it makes me want to keel over the yak on the floor. Oh, well – next year, right?

We have almost all of the memory cards full for the camera now, so one of these days we’ll have a lot of pictures for you. Time has become such a commodity lately. It’s really crazy. I have a lot of video to work on as well. It’s something I like to do, but the only time I have to do it is about 30-60 minutes after I get home at night when I usually feel like…

Playing Halo 3. In the fictional land of galactic war, you may now refer to me as LT. BillyActionface. I’m officially a Spartan officer now, so that is sweet. That is more so a reflection of experience at this point rather than skill, but I have been holding my own.

It is now time to watch the Big Ten finale show, and next time I’ll tell you about my candlelight dinner at the Chick-Fil-A!

This has nothing to do with you not being interesting. Just wanted to share it with you.

    Daily Thought:
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR
ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED
    DOWN THE STAIRS.

*Reminded me of a story you told me about putting Shane’s parents in a suitcase and pushing them down the stairs??? They didn’t think it was funny???
I believe you will remember what I’m refering to better than I.

First of all, it was a JOKE about putting his SISTER in the suitcase and pushing her down the stairs to test the sturdiness of said suitcase. No, the family (extended – it wasn’t just the parents and kids) was not amused. I’m sure; however, that given a choice between that and having me ACTUALLY put THEM in a suitcase and give it a toss, they’d have chosen the latter.

Anyhoo, if she came out all smiles then the suitcase obviously rocked very hard. That was the premise of the joke. In retrospect, it was probably a pretty stupid thing to say. It’s kind of embarrassing to even think about now – years later – so thanks for reminding me!

I’ll have to remind Shane about that sometime so that he might share in my embarrassment. That should make me feel better!

Perhaps then you can also share with Shane that you feel that his parents love for thier children only extends to being shoved down the stairs in a suitcase.
    (that was a joke too)

How come I haven’t seen any Halloween pictures of the babies yet?!

you’ll have to go to MySpace to view all the wonderfulness of my get together.
Speaking of which. Just to keep you informed. Mikkel and I are no longer together. An odd experience for me. Two adults who recognized that we didn’t want the same things for the future thought it to be wise to end it.
Now I am in the process of trying to buy a house on a single income. I’m honestly a little excited about joining the rest of the world as a broke homeowner!!!

Man, when did that happen? I hope it all went down reasonably professionally.

I was just starting to get excited about NOT being broke anymore – why the hurry to buy a house?

Renting an apt. (which there is a waiting list for) is anywhere from 315 (scary apt’s behind Good Sam.) or 450-500 a month (waiting list). Buying a house, however, would be around 300 a month and I would have a whole house vs. an apt. and something to show for it. That and I like my job here and I’m still in school here.

and, yes. professionally. No good drama story here, which is good.
